Dark Chocolate Cherry Froyo

This recipe comes to you out of pure experimentation. I knew that when I got home after Zumba last night that I’d want something chocolatey, sweet, and yet healthy.

Oh a whim, I threw some cocoa powder, vanilla, dried cherries and a splash of milk into a half empty container of Greek yogurt. The result is decadent! The trick is to let the flavors develop for a few hours. Four, to be more precise. But, just like yesterday’s chocolate chia pudding, the wait is so worth it!

Dark Chocolate Cherry Froyo

Serves 2

  • 1 C nonfat plain Greek yogurt, drained of excess liquid
  • 2-3 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • handful dried cherries
  • splash of milk – adjust for consistency

Mix together all ingredients, adding more milk as needed. Cover and set in fridge for four or more hours.

CONFESSION: This isn’t froyo in the true sense of a frozen yogurt. You COULD freeze this. But, well, it’s cold enough outside as it is, and the consistency is so perfect out of the fridge. Trust me 🙂

This is heavy on the dark chocolate flavor and light on the sweetness, so add more maple syrup to suit your tastes.
