Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte

6 Nov

PSL addiction is a serious problem. People pay big money, require their fix first thing in the morning, and can often become impossible to be around if they don’t get it.

No, I’m not talking about drugs, but the famous Pumpkin Spice Latte! Starbucks somehow created a beverage that overtook the nation. Honestly, it’s not even that good (but you didn’t hear that from me). What IS good is this homemade, far cheaper, and way healthier version! Starbucks gets away with putting an overly sweetened syrup made of who-knows-what into an otherwise normal cup of coffee.

Don’t be fooled! Try this out at home. It requires minimal effort, just a few ingredients you already have on hand, and the addition of real pumpkin is an added health bonus! Hello, vitamins and minerals!

Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte

Not the prettiest picture, but boy was this delicious!

Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte

Makes 1, can be doubled

  • 2 tbsp real pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 tbsp real maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg (or replace both with 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice)
  • 1/4 C non-dairy milk
  • 1 C (8oz) brewed hot coffee

Brew your coffee a little stronger than usual.

Mix all ingredients, except the coffee, in a large mug. Pour in coffee, stir well. DRINK!

Boom, faster and cheaper than Starbucks any day 🙂

Ever since I started making my own, I’ve rarely gotten them from Starbucks. Another way to make this even easier in the mornings is to make “pumpkin milk” and keep in a jar in the fridge. Hit pumpkin, sweetener and milk in the blender. Pour into a jar and then it’s ready and waiting for you after you’ve brewed your coffee!
