Almond Butter Banana Oat Smoothie

7 Sep

Some mornings, you’re inspired to whip up a fantastic and challenging breakfast. But then there are those mornings when all you want to do is lounge around, slurp food and be lazy. Today is one of the latter for me.

What’s a good breakfast for the lazy? Smoothies! Just as nutritious as a bowl of oatmeal, but quicker and colder.  This is perfect pre or post workout, or if you just want to do absolutely nothing.

Almond Butter Banana Oat Smoothie

I LOVE the MKE Brewing Co. tours and beer. But a smoothie does them justice too 🙂

Almond Butter Banana Oat Smoothie, adapted from The Lemon Bowl

Serves 1

  • 1 ripe banana, broken into pieces
  • 1/2 C plain nonfat Greek yogurt
  • 1/3 C skim milk
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp flaxseed meal
  • 1/2 C old-fashioned oats (uncooked)
  • 1 tbsp almond butter (or any nut butter)

Add the ingredients to a blender in the order they appear above. This will aid in the blending process. Blend, then “liquify” until combined. Serve in your favorite pint glass and slurp up!

Too thick for your liking? Add more milk until it reaches your desired consistency. I like mine as thick as wet concrete, but to each their own!
